I am an experienced information architect, usability professional, and teacher.

Research interests
  • I am fascinated by all aspects of digital communication culture. Some areas of interest include (in no particular order): the history of technology, actor-network theory, activity theory, dot-com culture, organizational communication, cultural studies, discourse, HCI/usability/user-experience, and youth/popular culture.
  • My MA thesis about Amazon.com discussed the historical construction and cultural significance of their unofficial corporate motto: "Have fun. Work hard. Make history."

Professional experience
  • I have more than six years experience creating functional specifications, prototypes, interface designs, and user scenarios for Web applications.
  • I also have significant experience designing and conducting usability testing plans utilizing rapid-prototyping, traditional one-on-one tests and focus group to assess the effectiveness of user-interface, navigation and help content. I am experienced in qualitative and quantitative research design, survey design, content analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • I have extensive knowledge of content production, graphics and template layout, advertising and marketing issues, user interface design, information architecture, and accessible design.
